The most powerful engine available is the 3.0 L, with 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. The 2.3 L engine provides a still-impressive 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, with the hybrid engine capable of 318 horsepower and 322 pound-feet of torque. Ford provides all this while keeping the MPG at 27 city and 28 highway!

Interior Seating

The roomy interior of the Explorer comes with a standard third row, for a seating capacity of 7. However, don’t feel locked into extra seating; the available PowerFold seats fold down easily to create extra storage space as needed. This SUV has one of the most spacious rear seating areas in its class, as well as an optional twin-panel moonroof that creates an expansive feeling for even third-row passengers.

Safety Features

The impressive standard safety features of this SUV include AdvanceTrac for more roll stability and better handling on road conditions such as ice, rain, or gravel. There are also additional airbags to protect the knees of the front seat passenger as well as a Safety Canopy System of airbags to protect the heads of passengers in the event of a collision.

There is also an SOS Post-Crash Alert System, which activates the horn and emergency flashers to signal for help in the event of airbag deployment; the SOS System is easily deactivated by your key fob.
